January has brought in change. We say hello to new instructors and farewell to a long time one. Lisa Hyman had been teaching at Loggerhead Fitness for the past nine years. She retired this month, we lose a professional and friend. Scroll down to see photos of her farewell party.
Lisa vacated seven classes ranging from Zumba to Silver Sneakers. We have new instructors in place and all classes remain on the schedule. They are as follows:
- Norma-Jeanne Byrd – Takes over Monday, 1:35pm – Zumba Gold
- Betty Rodriguez – Takes over Tuesday, 12:30pm – Zumba
- Beatriz Edrington – Takes over Wednesday, 11:15am – Barre Pilates
- Irina Wetzel – Takes over Wednesday, 12:30pm – Silver Sneakers
- Heidi Hendrix – Takes over Thursday, 9:00am – Barre Blast
- Ania Drewnowska – Takes over Friday, 10:15am – Mat Pilates
- Nora Lara – Takes over Friday, 11:15am – Zumba
In addition to these changes we also have added new instructor Rose Buller. She will be teaching the HIIT class, Friday at 9am. We welcome Rose, Betty, Beatriz, Ania, Norma-Jeanne and Nora to our team of talented Group X instructors.
Our Group Cycle program gets a major face lift. On Thursday, Jan 26th, we are taking delivery of 13 new spin bikes. We want to grow this program and will be looking to add more classes, in the evening and early morning.
Zumba is in high demand and classes are filling up. We are looking at adding a 9am Zumba class on Saturday alternating with our Step Class, every other week. Compromise is the word of the “day” and it is the only way we can give everyone what they want. We listen to what is being asked for and will do our best to accommodate. We have 18 different types of classes being taught over 45 time slots throughout the week. We need a minimum of 6 people to attend a class to keep it on the schedule. This means if you are in a class and you don’t see more than six of you, that class may not last.
Speaking of low attendance, we struggled to keep our Wed 6:30pm Zumba class going. After several weeks of low to no attendance we had to take it off the schedule. We will try to build more demand and continue our marketing efforts to fill evening classes. Help us help you. Talk to your friends, coworkers and neighbors and encourage them to try a Group X class. We have terrific prices for people who can only attend Group X classes in the evening. Any new comer can try their first class for free!
Finally, don’t forget to stop in next door at Fresh Nation. Opening in a week, this new restaurant will blow you away. Fresh, casual, clean and catering to the active person that wants to lead a healthy lifestyle. Find us online at: www.gofreshnation.com
