LHF: So, hello, and welcome to Team Loggerhead! Let’s get this started. Where are you from?
DW: I was born in Dunedin, Florida. My father took a job in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1978 and moved us there. I lived in Youngstown until 2001.
LHF: And, apparently then back to Florida. How did that happen?
DW: My girlfriend and I lived in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands for 12 years, until last year. I had a successful personal training business there, and she is a registered pediatric RN.
LHF: Where did you go to school?
DW: I graduated from Youngstown State University.
LHF: How did you find us here in Juno Beach?
DW: I found Loggerhead Fitness through an Internet search when I moved to the area, seeking employment.
LHF: Realizing you are a Professional Trainer here on staff, how much are you personally into working out?
DW: I am very much into working out. I take pride in my fitness, strength, balance, endurance and speed. It has been tough lately, however, as I have a 7-month-old (our first). His name is Jace.
LHF: Congratulations! What is your specialty and/or certifications related to PT?
DW: I am a Certified Personal Trainer that holds multiple certifications. NASM CPT, NASM CES, CrossFitmyformfitness.com is my website. I haven’t updated it much lately, however. Form Fitness is the name of my PT business.
LHF: Sounds like you’re quite busy. What are your weekends like?
DW: Weekends are usually about chores and cleaning and errands. When I have time, I enjoy the beach, running, poker, softball and golf. I am a big Cleveland Sports fan and try to catch the Indians, Cavaliers and Browns on TV whenever possible. The thing I enjoy most of all is spending time with my family.
LHF: Where have your travels taken you?
DW: Having lived in the Caribbean allowed me travel in the West Indies. I would regularly spend weekends in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I have traveled to The Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Dominica, St. Martin, St. John, St. Thomas, Tortola, Jost van Dyke and Virgin Gorda. I have spent the last 20 years summering in Maine. There I would visit Montreal and Quebec City. I have also traveled through Ireland and Northern Ireland.
LHF: Okay, now we’re getting personal. Tell us more about your life:
DW: My girlfriend Nicki and I have been together for 15 years. I have a dog named Shadow she is a rescue we brought here from St. Croix. I am an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. I am certified to teach CPR/AED , First Aid, and Lifeguarding. I am also a Water Safety Instructor. I have been lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons for the last 26 years.
LHF: Finally, what would our readers find interesting or surprising about you?
DW: I do own over 100 pair of sneakers. I have a small sneaker addiction 🙂
