LHF: Hi Ben, thanks so much for being our Spotlight. First, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Ben: I grew up in Miami, but then joined the military. After relocating to Jupiter, Florida in 2000, I settled down and now work as a bicycle mechanic. I work for Jack the Bike Man, which is a charity that fixes bikes and donates them to needy children and adults in our area.
Ben: Yes, well besides the charitable aspect, I am also participating to challenge myself; I will be 71 next year meaning that will make me the oldest to ever attempt to paddle from Bahamas to Florida (80 miles) solo!
Ben: I haven’t driven a car in 20 years. I prefer to bike everywhere. I usually cycle about 15 miles every day, averaging about 14,000 miles per year.
Ben: Well the gym is very close to me and I have actually been a trainer for a number of years. I usually go twice a week for about four hours each day.
LHF: How would you describe the progress you’ve made since joining?
Ben: I’ve lost 32 pounds and gained sizable muscle! It’s a great gym.
LHF: That’s amazing to hear! Finally, any favorite or inspirational quotes that you live by?
Ben: Eat, Sleep, Conquer, Repeat!
